What do we do it at Early Kisses??
We explore food in relationship to pain and invite God into hidden places.
As an extremely grateful American, I encourage each of you to be good to yourself by allowing yourself the blessings that God has surrounded you with. This can be done without abusing these blessings or despising them. Self- hate gets you nowhere. It certainly doesn't help you lose weight. Unless you or the person you love has a severe food intolerance or a severe food allergy such as Celiac Disease, please do not avoid the foods that you love the most. There really are ways to escape overeating that can be both practical and comfortable. Yes, it is possible to reach your healthier weight and all of this can happen at the same time.
In this country we often see friends, family, or co-workers who overly restrict their personal food intake in order to look more like a Hollywood star or a supermodel. Both poverty as well as obesity can contribute to poor self-esteem. Both can make a person feel dehumanized. As Americans, we easily forget that our access to delicious food is a gift. Not everyone in the world shares this gift we have here. Most of us tend to get very caught up in our "tunnel visioned" lives.
We often forget how much we actually have and what that means.

We are all human beings and we all need food to live. Yet eating too much food at a single sitting can make us feel bloated, burdened, and over time lead to overweight & obesity. On the other hand, disordered eating, poverty or a lack of healthy food can lead to malnutrition ...regardless of what your BMI is!
"Food is the most primitive form of comfort." ~Sheila Graham
